So I hopped onto Amazon and bought “Java for Dummies” which I started to read until I was talking to a friend of mine and he said that I C++ is the go to programming language for game design. So I went back onto Amazon and ordered “Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days” and to my disappointment it never showed up. Since summer was coming to an end and I wanted to get started on programming, I went back on Amazon and bought “C++ for Dummies” which arrived perfectly fine and I started coding in C++ writing temperature converting programs and programs that print out the words “Hello World!” (the standard 1st program every book has you write as I had come to realize) until the book ”Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days” showed up in the mail. I was then sitting in my room with 4 different programming books on my desk, little to no experience with any of the languages, and a big chunk of money out of my pocket.

I decided the best thing to do would be to wait until school started again to continue my C++ endeavors, because I was then (and still am) freaking out about my summer homework and AP World History test on the 2nd day of school. Weeks went by doing homework and watching “Arrested Development” to procrastinate doing my homework, until one one day (today) I was watching footage of indie games from PAX and was getting inspired, so I spent the rest of the day watching videos of indie game developers, games, and interviews of “Notch” (the reason I went with Java in the first place and the reason I’m making this blog) until I found a little website called http://www.gamedev.net/, where I entered the community chat and met the people that would get me out of this horrible mess of thinking about making games, rather than going out and making them.
